About Information Security
The Information Security team enforces ResComp's network use policies with the goal of maintaining network security and protecting the privacy of all residents' data. Through detection of malicious network traffic, viruses, and computer vulnerabilities, the team works to protect the residence hall network and all connected devices through enforcement of the campus minimum security standards, promotion of safe computing practices, and implementation of ResComp's bandwidth policies.
To ensure the safety of student data stored on and transferred through our network, the InfoSec team enforces strict security standards on all our servers and workstations through intrusive and non-intrusive scanning of our systems and audits of servers. We closely scrutinize infected workstations and staff computers to pinpoint the cause of infection and minimize the amount of data loss.
Additionally, the InfoSec team continually works in conjunction with our customer support and Marketing teams to educate residents and staff on security awareness and safe computing practices, taking both reactive and proactive approaches to maintain security and protect the network.
