The Student Services Outreach Assistant ...
Connects with current students:
  • Assists in collecting and analyzing data related to student technology experiences on-campus.
  • Participates in efforts to recruit applicants to SAIT's student jobs.
  • Researches and maintains information related to student development opportunities.
Helps analyze data:
  • Assists in reviewing and summarizing survey results.
  • Assists in designing reports and visual materials for presentations.
  • Provides a student perspective on how data may be interpreted.
  • Assists in drafting recommendations based on data findings.
Connects with Alumni:
  • Collects and maintains contact information for alumni of SAIT's Student Leadership Program.
  • Engages with alumni via social media and other online communications.
  • Assists in organizing and inviting alumni to activities.
Examples of Projects and Daily Tasks:
  • Identify and contact student groups for recruitment purposes.
  • Research and publicize workshops, lectures, and other opportunities SAIT’s student staff could benefit from.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and promoting events annual events like the winter holiday party.
  • Maintain alumni LinkedIn account.
  • Create and send regular communications about jobs, activities and other opportunities to alumni by email.
  • Design infographics using Adobe or web-based software.
  • Review surveys and other data and provides basic summaries.

Required Skills:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and alumni

  • Strong organizational and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Google Drive
  • Basic knowledge of managing social media accounts (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter)
  • Ability to complete additional training in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other software as needed.
Bonus:
  • Background in customer service
  • Intermediate experience managing social media accounts
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign

Availability & Training Requirements
  1. The period of employment for this position begins upon hire and continues at least through the end of 2017-2018 academic year.
  2. Must be a currently enrolled UC Berkeley student.
  3. Must be available for 2-5 hours per week of training during the spring 2017 semester, including New Staff Orientation on Friday, April 7.
  4. Must be available to work 10-15 hours per week during the academic year.
  5. Required to attend all-staff training on August 18, 2017.
  6. Must clear a criminal background check due to the level of data access and access to systems and physical spaces required by the position.
  7. Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory job performance evaluation by the Student Services Outreach Manager.
The Interview
What to Expect

The Student Services Outreach Assistant interview candidates will meet with the Student Services Outreach Manager to discuss their skills and experience as they relate to the position. The interview will last approximately 30 minutes and will include general questions about the candidate’s experiences and interests. Candidates will also be asked to bring an unofficial copy of their transcript to verify that they meet the minimum GPA requirement.
